Maisie Williams played Arya Stark on Game of Thrones for several years, and now that the show is finished, she's ready to embrace a new chapter in her fashion journey. The 22-year-old actress recently brought Vogue along with her as she and her boyfriend, Reuben Selby, enjoyed Paris Fashion Week together, and Maisie explained the style evolution she's currently embarking on.
Maisie started playing Arya when she was 14 years old, and as the eight seasons progressed, her body changed. "My body started to mature and I started to become a woman," she said. "But Arya was still very much trying to be disguised as a boy. I had really short hair and they'd constantly cover me in dirt, and shade my nose so it looked really broad and I looked really manly. They'd also put this strap across my chest to flatten any growth that had started."
"I don't know that just felt horrible for six months of the year and I felt a bit ashamed for a while," Maisie continued. "So with this new phase of my style, it is nice to look more feminine and to have a real waistline, and to embrace the body that I have."
Now, she plays with fashion in a new way, sometimes leaning on Reuben's opinion when she's overwhelmed with choices. In fact, Reuben helped design the stunning JW Anderson dress she wore to the 2019 Emmys. "See?" she said, showing the camera a photo of her gown. "I have a female body. How exciting!"
