Selena Gomez and Julia Michaels have teamed up for a deeply personal song. Released on Jan. 24, "Anxiety" is about anxiety's effect on one's social life, emotional well-being, and more. In a post about the song, Gomez shared a picture taken shortly after her vulnerable 2017 American Music Awards performance and wrote, "This song is extremely close to my heart as I've experienced anxiety and know a lot of my friends do too. You're never alone if you feel this way."
Gomez has been candid about her experience with anxiety and depression and reportedly sought treatment for the aforementioned in February 2018 and again in October following a panic attack. Since leaving rehab in November, Gomez has been spotted skiing with friends and celebrating a friend's bridal shower. She also recently ended her Instagram hiatus, which began in September, to share a post about her "year of self-reflection, challenges and growth."
Following her 2016 album, Revival, Gomez released a few singles, including "Fetish" and "Bad Liar," and she recently appeared on the hugely successful song "Taki Taki." When asked about a potential next album, Gomez told POPSUGAR in May 2018 that she's been working on new music but still isn't sure when the "right moment" will be. She added, "It's hard to have a voice and make sure that your content means something."
