Dwayne Johnson Literally Rocked Everyone at the MTV Awards With His Humble Speech

Dwayne Johnson is undoubtedly a superstar, and he's the recipient of the Generation Award at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards. The actor turned producer received the honor during the annual show, and boy, did he make an entrance. With a whole slew of background dancers stomping to Queen's "We Will Rock You," The Rock entered the building to a standing ovation. In the speech, he reflected on his humble beginnings and how he wouldn't be where he is without the ladies in his life. "I got a house full of strong-ass women!" he exclaimed. But staying true to his roots is what made him truly worthy of the award.

He said that when he first came to Hollywood, he was told he had to look a certain way, had to lose weight. "For years I bought into it and I was miserable doing that, so I made a choice," The Rock said. "The choice was: I wasn't going to conform to Hollywood, Hollywood was going to conform to me . . . I'm proudly half-black and half-Samoan and I wanted to bring those cultures here for the world to see. So yes, it's important that you are your most authentic self. I'm a walking example of that."

According to MTV, "the Generation Award celebrates actors whose diverse contributions to film and television have turned them into household names in the industry." Past winners have included Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pratt, Will Smith, Sandra Bullock, and Tom Cruise. Throughout The Rock's 17-year career, he's shown fans he can be an absolute badass while always remaining true to himself. Check out his incredible entrance and heartwarming acceptance speech ahead.
