Doris Day has died at age 97, The Doris Day Animal Foundation confirmed to AP. The legendary actress and singer died at 1:00 a.m. on Monday at her home in California. The foundation adds that that she was surrounded by close friends. "Day had been in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia, resulting in her death," the foundation told AP in a statement. Her death comes nearly two months after she celebrated her birthday on April 3.
