For parents of kids with sensory issues, a small piece of overcoming obstacles together with them may involve identifying specific products and devices, whether they involve calming lights, weighted blankets, tactile products, or even seating. Oftentimes these toys and items can be expensive, and perhaps even hard to find. That is, until today.
Target is expanding its popular Pillowfort line to include sensory-friendly pieces, and they're as affordable as they are necessary. After receiving feedback from guests whose kids experienced sensory sensitivities who were looking for products to properly suit them, the design team went to work. "We want all guests to feel welcome and included at Target. With our Cat & Jack and Universal Thread adaptive and sensory-friendly apparel, we've seen that little details can have a huge impact," Julie Guggemos, Target's senior VP of owned brand management and product design, shared exclusively with POPSUGAR. "I'm so proud to bring that spirit of inclusivity and incredible design to Pillowfort's new sensory-friendly assortment, which hopefully can bring more ease and joy to our guests' everyday lives."
The 20-piece collection includes affordable weighted blankets, rocking desk and activity chairs, a crash pad, and even a hideaway tent. The team focused on things like zipper placement, providing removable covers, and interior ties. Prices start at $20 and everything is under $100.
