For parents with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit, the nurses that take care of their infants are quite literally a lifeline. Amid sleepless nights, holding your baby for the first time, and sometimes even risky medical procedures, NICU nurses are a ray of light during stressful times.
And although these men and women usually have to tend to both babies' and parents' needs alike - most nurses agree that their job is the definition of rewarding despite the long shift and myriad of emotions that come along with the role.
