Grab Your Broomsticks! Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth Are Coming Together For a Wicked Reunion

It's been 15 years since Wicked first opened on Broadway, and the musical is still near and dear to fans' hearts. In honor of the musical's monumental anniversary, NBC is airing a new concert special, A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway, on Monday, Oct. 29. And you better believe the original Elphaba and Glinda will be there to celebrate! Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth are set to cohost and perform. There will also be a few special performances from Ariana Grande, Pentatonix, and the current Broadway company of Wicked.

The special will be taped at New York City's Marquis Theater and produced by the show's original team, Ricky Kirshner, Marc Platt, and Glenn Weiss. Weiss will also serve as director. "Wicked is a blockbuster musical playing all over the world and still selling out night after night after 15 years on Broadway, and we're thrilled to be partnering with Emmy- and Tony-winning producer Marc Platt and the entire Wicked team to celebrate the enduring success of this show," Doug Vaughan, executive vice president of special programs and late night, said in a statement. "We're especially excited to have Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth reunited along with big guest stars in front of an audience (in costume hopefully) to help us celebrate the Halloween season."

A film adaptation of the hit musical is currently in the works at Universal Pictures. Though an official cast has yet to be announced, the film is set to be released on Dec. 20, 2019. Fingers crossed we'll get more details about the movie during the NBC special!
