Valkyrie Is, by Far, the Most Glaring Omission in Avengers: Infinity War

Warning: Yes, even this post spoils most of Avengers: Infinity War.

Listen, I get it. There was no way Marvel would be able to fit every single superhero into Avengers: Infinity War. And truth be told, they did a pretty remarkable job with the amount of characters they did manage to include. But you know how it goes. With so many characters and only so much airtime, a few names were bound to fall by the wayside.

There's no sign of Hawkeye in Infinity War. He's mentioned in the same breath as Ant-Man, who is also noticeably absent. While the former seems to be steering clear of the drama to protect himself and his family, Ant-Man has been placed under house arrest due to the events that go down in Captain America: Civil War (he also has a young daughter to think of). So that's all fine and dandy, but there's another character who's missing. And in this case, she doesn't even come up in conversation.

Yeah, we're talking about Valkyrie. The badass Asgardian warrior survives the events of Thor: Ragnarok with ease, because she's a f*ckin' badass. The last we see, she's on that giant space vessel with Thor, Loki, and the rest of the Asgardian population. You know, the same ship we see at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, the one that's been torn to shreds by Thanos and his men.

Heimdall, the all-seeing sentry who guards the gates of Asgard, is the first death in Infinity War, with Loki following close behind. But there's no sign at all of Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson. We do not see her body in the ruins, and Thor does not mention her in any subsequent scenes, not even when he's clearly flirting with Gamora.

So what is the deal?! Well, we're not entirely sure. There's no word on Thompson's contract with Marvel, and at this moment, there hasn't been any sort of confirmation on a fourth Thor film, which would be a very logical place for her to appear. There's always a chance Valkyrie peeled off to take care of some business before Thanos's attack, or even managed to hide or escape as he laid siege. We'd love to believe that Marvel wouldn't just kill her without a word or a goodbye scene. That's why we're leaning toward the possibility that she's alive.

Or you could just ask Thompson herself. According to her, Valkyrie does appear in Infinity War:
