After more than 15 years at Disney California Adventure, A Bug's Land is being replaced by a new park theme. In 2020, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland visitors can expect an exciting Super Hero-themed land that will feature the Avengers.
The immersive Super Hero Universe will mark the next major addition at Disney California Adventure after Pixar Pier. Though Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! initially replaced Tower of Terror as part of the park's Summer of Heroes experience, it now makes sense that Disney is completely transforming the surrounding area into an epic Marvel area, joined by Spider-Man. Currently, the space is occupied by A Bug's Land, which will permanently close in late Summer 2018.
As for Disneyland Paris, plans for Super Hero land will take course over a "multi-year expansion," according to Disney Parks Blog. Park-goers can expect a brand-new, live-action production to debut at this year's Summer of Super Heroes (June 10 to Sept. 30), followed by a "hyper-kinetic adventure" in 2020, featuring Iron Man and your favorite Avengers. The upcoming onstage experience will include special effects and projections.
Hong Kong Disneyland's expansion will take also course over multiple years. Guests will team up with Ant-Man and The Wasp for an exciting new attraction, which will join the existing Iron Man Experience that opened in 2017.
On top of all this thrilling news, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is set to open in 2019 - so prepare yourself for multiple Disney park visits over the next couple years. Get a sneak peek of what to expect at Super Hero Universe in the video above!
